venice.

venezia. i don’t know quite how to describe this city. so rich in history, so mysterious. unlike any place i’ve ever been before. my two days there with mary last spring reminded me what i love about travel: the journey. the unknown. we didn’t have a map, we didn’t have a plan. we wandered, we got lost, we found our way. we hopped on a water bus with no idea where it was going, no destination in mind. by letting go of control, by opening ourselves up to whatever might happen, we ended up having a more delightful day than we could have hoped to dream up by planning it in advance. oh venice… what a magical little cluster of islands she is.
