one thing i am so excited for this summer is to hang out with my INTERN! amberle is going to be assisting me and learning the ropes at weddings and shoots. it is crazy and fun to think how far i’ve come in the last year, and i know i couldn’t have done it without an incredible teacher to pour into me… i am excited to be able to give back a little bit too! so without further ado, here is miss amberle!

what do you love most about photography?
i love capturing moments the most about photography. as cliche as that is, my favorite part of photography is being able to go back at look at that second in time that was captured through the camera. i take pictures of the food that i eat, of the weird candid faces of my family and friends when they react to something, of wideshots of an event that i attend so that i can remember just how it was. and when i am able to capture those moments for other people, so they can remember one specific moment in time, that feeling is amazing. my friends don’t take pictures throughout the school year, because they know that a camera is glued to my side and they love being able to look at everything that i have captured. i see my life through a camera lens and wouldn’t have it any other way.

what is your favorite thing about living in grand rapids?
my favorite thing about living in the grand rapids is the fact that i feel like it’s “my city.” i grew up here and was raised here, never thought i would be here still in my 20s, but i am loving the grand rapids that i have discovered as i have gotten older. the local restaurants, the hangouts downtown, the concerts, and the events that have become tradition for me, such as festival of the arts or celebration on the grand … along with new events such as artprize, the art community in grand rapids is expanding so much that i love being surrounded by it.

random interesting fact about yourself?
my dad is originally from salt lake city, utah, and i was born there. i didn’t live there for very long, but have visited there throughout my life and have decided that my heart truly lies in the mountains. i love being near the lakes, but i would love being surrounded by mountains more. i hope to move out west at some point in my life, even just for a few years, to have the opportunity to really live in the mountiains.
